I’m Kevin Ambrogi, mixing and mastering engineer and founder of 747 Mastering Studio in Brussels.

I’m also a musician, and that strongly shapes the way I mix. I don’t approach a song as a collection of tracks to process — I start with the arrangement, the performance and what the music is trying to say.

My goal is to build a mix with depth, movement, punch and character while preserving what makes your recording yours.

ANALOG SOUND, MODERN WORKFLOW

I work with a hybrid analog and digital mixing setup, combining the flexibility and precision of modern digital tools with carefully selected analog hardware from Neve, API, Pultec, Teletronix, SPL and other studio processors.

Depending on what your music needs, I’ll work on dynamics, tonal balance, stereo image, depth, ambience, automation and effects to create a finished mix in which every element has its place without losing the energy of the performances.

Every song is mixed individually. There are no presets or automatic processing chains.

I work directly on every project myself, from the first listen through final delivery.

BEFORE I START

I’ll listen through your files and references before beginning the mix. If I hear editing, recording or arrangement issues that I believe should be addressed first, I’ll let you know rather than trying to hide them with processing.

I’m interested in where you want the record to go — not in imposing the same sound on every artist.
