About Me – Leonardo Álvarez

Hi! I’m Leonardo Álvarez, a professional drummer, percussionist, and educator with over 30 years of experience recording and performing across a wide range of styles — from tango and Latin folk to jazz, rock, and pop.
I’m an international Yamaha and Vic Firth artist, based in Argentina, and I’ve worked on more than 300 studio songs, live theater productions, and international festivals. My playing combines technical precision with expressive feel, and I take pride in adapting my sound to match your song’s unique vibe.

I’ve performed in award-winning musical productions like Eva, The Argentine Musical and Maria de Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla, and I currently teach over 40 students each semester as a university-level drum instructor at IUPA Music University. I also run a music school in Buenos Aires with a staff of 14 teachers, where we train aspiring musicians in a wide range of genres.
