Topline writing is the art of composing the vocal melody and lyrics over a finished or semi-finished piece of music — the part people hum in the car, sing in the shower, and remember long after the track has ended. It's often the difference between a great production and a great song.

At DyHard Productions, topline writing is one of our most in-demand services. Originally from the UK and trained at the Jazz & Rock Academy of Music, we bring genuine songwriting craft to every track — from massive commercial hooks and radio-ready choruses to more sophisticated melodic writing across any genre.

How it works:

We start with a conversation about your vision — the style, mood, purpose of the song, and anything you already have in mind. From there, we write and record the topline in our professional studio so you can hear exactly how the melody feels over your music.

If you're providing lyrics we'll use them from the start. If not, we'll record using scratch lyrics — placeholder words that convey the shape and feel of the melody. If you'd like us to write the lyrics too, we begin once the melody is approved, then re-record with the final words so you can hear everything together.

A note for first-timers: the melody is the tune the singer sings. The lyrics are the words. Both can be included — just select the right package or message us if you're unsure.
