I’ll record one professional guitar track for your song, with a focus on the right tone, feel, phrasing and musical approach for your production.

I can work from your existing guitar part, chart, demo or reference — or create the part from scratch if you want me to use my musical judgment.

I often record more than one approach when the song benefits from it, giving you options rather than simply sending one take and calling it done. This comes easy to me as I often also compose for projects.

I have several recording chains and instruments available, allowing me to tailor the sound to your track.

For direct recording, I can go through my Universal Audio Apollo Twin, or use my Universal Audio 6176 tube preamp/compressor for additional character.

I can also record through my Mesa/Boogie Lone Star or 1975 vintage Fender Twin, using the classic Shure SM57 + Royer ribbon combination or a single mic depending on the sound.

My main client-recording guitar is a vintage Les Paul. I also use a Gibson ES-165 when a warmer tone is needed, along with other guitars when they better suit the music. I also have a matched pair of AKG C414s available.

For Spanish/nylon-string guitar, I use a Neumann U87, which gives me a detailed, warm and natural recording.

For Cuban tres, I use a Neumann KM 184 to capture its distinctive character and rhythmic detail.

Musical Background

I’m from the Caribbean, so Latin and Afro-Caribbean music are a natural part of my musical language. I also grew up playing rock and heavy metal in the late ’80s and early ’90s, so I’m equally comfortable with heavier guitar-driven music.

I have a long track record in jazz as well, including an album released on Sunnyside Records featuring renowned musicians such as Jeff “Tain” Watts and Warren Wolf.
