Bass like Paul McCartney for $87
I particularly excel in Paul McCartney's style of bouncy melodic bass and what you might hear in a song by Elliott Smith, Aimee Mann, Jon Brion, Dr Dog, The Strokes, Pinback. I also do well with 60s and 70s rock, 80s new wave, 90s grunge, punk rock and current folk and psychedelic rock and folk. I can also get pretty funky a la "I Want You Back" by Jackson 5, "Come Down" by Anderson .Paak, "Nobody's Fault but Mine" Otis Redding.
I use a Fender hybrid P-Bass/J-Bass. It goes through an A Designs Pacifica Preamp and into the analog Tube Tech CL1B compressor with Mullard tubes. Then I fatten it up using the Empirical Labs FATSO EL7x. I also use keyboard basses when appropriate (on some songs it can work better that a real bass and I've got all sorts of different virtual basses for tonal variety). When using keyboard bass I also fatten it up with the analog FATSO. I use LogicX mostly nowadays. I also use Pro Tools.
