Mixing by a non-binary sound engineer for $150
Hi! I’m Kip, a non-binary freelance sound engineer, specialising in vocal editing, mixing, and mastering. I studied at RMIT in Melbourne and have a background in classical piano, choral composition, and sound design. Despite this background, I'm very genre - fluid and I've most often worked with electronic and indie artists who defy genre categorisation.
In Australia, the amount of women sound engineers is somewhere around 2-11% (depending on the study) and less than 2% of all sound engineers are non-binary. I’m proudly a part of that 2%.
I don't specialise in a single genre. I'll work with anyone, but I generally have tended to work with women, queer people of all sorts, non-binary, and trans artists who want a mix and master that doesn't compromise their artistic vision to make it have so-called "mass appeal". As queer people, we often want to create art that speaks to our own subgenres and preferences, even if it doesn't have appeal for cis-het audiences. I love artists who defy categorisation or genre, because I think genre (although sometimes useful for listeners) can be a bit of a silly construct and sometimes really limiting for artists. I'm here to help you make the songs that YOU want to make, regardless of what other people think.
I also work in a local youth service, teaching young people how to record, mix, and master as a way of building confidence and resilience. This has really impacted the way that I approach working with musicians: I try to make the process as easy-to-understand as possible without using too much technical jargon.

Falling Down the Same Hole by Bradd Edwards
An ambient industrial electronic track. This track has many layers of industrial noises and wubby bass. It was a fun challenge to mix it and to find ways to make sure that the all of the industrial noises got their moment to shine. The risk with something like this is that it would sound
