Education: You may only be a few moves away from doing your own production, mixing or mastering. If you feel that you would rather invest in yourself than pay somebody else then read on for $75
I am a skilled educator as well as a proffesional producer. Many of the people I work with self produce and are keen to know how to get the best results and improve their own workflow.
I can teach you how to organise your sessions and show you some very basic but important principles of recording/mixing/mastering that you can use for the rest of your life.
If you feel like working in a DAW and producing your own music is more of a battle than you would like then I can help.
And! tbh..if you're still reading..there is a load of terrible advice out there given by people who are good at social media and bad at making music. Also, if you're still still reading, there are many many music courses that don't ask the central and most important questions about sound and the experience of listening.
We can have lessons based on your needs or if you prefer I can put you on a structured module. Sometimes just an hour of Q+A can be enough to sort out things that have been driving you mad for a long time.
Subjects may include:
Compression-How much, what kind, when and when not and why! What is it we are perceiving ?
Eq: What is really going on ? The relationship between tone and the harmonic scale. Compensating for the dense nature of multitrack recording. What does tone change mean in terms of character and personality? Does a filtered voice always have to mean that the vocalist is on the telephone? Is it possible to un think that? They may just have a cold?
Fx: Reverb and Delay, when to use and what kind. What are they tricking the ear into thinking? Making sense of virtual spaces and thinking in new ways about hearing and perception. You're using these FX to imply space, dimension, distance, and your primal functions are reacting to it.
Saturation: What is really happening with saturation and why is it so seductive. Is it only because it's cool? Or is it actually helping?
Balance: The basis of good recording and mixing, knowing how to always have a good balance can change the way you feel about everything.
DAW. I can help with Pro Tools and Logic Pro.
Q+A: What you want to know!
It really is an endless subject. It's way more rewarding when you know a few things.
Lessons are for one hour and online although if you are local to me we can arrange in person.
Looking forward to meeting you.
