No Gravy Please
I worked at a Psychiatric Center for many years. When I first began working in the mid 1980's, I remember a female staff member telling me if she ever wrote a book about the place, she would call it No Gravy Please. This intrigued me and I asked why. She told me when she began working there in the early 1960s, there were no special diets, no low salt, no lactose free, everybody was served the same thing. This conversation stayed with me for over 30 obviously and I came to write this song in 2024.
No salt on my potatoes
No butter on my corn
Don't bother asking
