Recording Studio Drummer for $50
I am available for recording drums in your project in studios around London for further afield. I have experience recording drums for multiple different projects, focusing on progressive rock/ metal and traditional rock.
1. I worked with two other talented musicians to record and video a liver studio play-through cover of ‘Waves’ by Guthrie Govan at Rogue Recording Studios in Wembley, a prog/ fusion track featuring intricate details and odd time signatures. I am a big fan of Pete Riley’s drumming throughout the whole album, and tried to replicate most of the song as accurately as possible, with my own subtle intricacies added throughout. I worked with the engineer to tune a PDP Pacific kit as accurately as possible to the original kit Riley used, using a 1 up 2 down setup and all Zildjian A/Ks to match the drum sound.
2. I wrote and recorded drums for two complex prog rock/metal tracks as part of an in-college project over several months, with over 10 minutes total of playing. I spent lots of time composing the parts with the guitarist and bassist, and writing out sections in Logic and Ableton to program what I would play beforehand. I took inspiration from drummers such as Matt Garstka, Matt Halpern and Clay Aeschliman. I used a Mapex Armoury 6pc kit, with a large mix of Meinl Byzance cymbals (cover image) and double kick throughout the recording (featured on my page and below).
3. I tracked the drums for 'Make My Way', a single released by three piece rock band The Tones. I helped to compose and engineer for the project, and spent many hours adjusting mics and drum tones to achieve the sound that we wanted, as well as using reference tracks by such players as Mike Joyce. I recorded all of the drums remotely at AMP Studios in Hextable.
I have a range of different equipment I can bring to recording sessions, including IEMs, double kick pedal, Mapex Black Panther snare, and a range of professional Meinl Byzance and Zildjian A / K custom cymbals.
