Outside of production and engineering, I also have been a professional studio drummer for 10 years. Sharing duties between drum captain on my high school drumline, winning the Louie Armstrong Jazz Award with our jazz band and returning to teach after graduation, I have a background in disciplined, rudimentary percussion. However, I have also been in numerous rock bands along the way which has shaped my style into a blend between polish and grit. I play on many of my clients' records and have done session work for producer Aaron Accetta (James Garfunkel, Brooke Hogan, Aaron Carter, Forever the Sickest Kids).

Being a producer also helps me analyze your song in a big picture way, and choose the best grooves and fills to accent your ideas. With 13ft vaulted ceilings, wood walls and careful acoustic treatment, my East Nashville studio live room is a perfect drum room. I have a custom maple/mahogany DW kit with a wide variety of snare flavors for any style (Ludwig, Sonor, Acoutin, Gretch, and more), accompanied by cymbals from Meinl, Sabian, and Zildian. I use microphones from Neumann, Shure, Avantone, Charter Oak, Oktava, Peluso, and Sound Electronics with all Mogami mic cables, through a hand selected batch of preamps like API and Vintech into Pro Tools HD I/O converters to ensure the punchiest and most accurate drum tracks available.

Once I get your session or song and have discussed drum sound, style etc with you, I will lay down multiple takes and send you the two best to choose from or mix and match fills/grooves from either. I usually send a busier take with lots of fill options and a simpler take focused more on the groove. If there is still something missing after we've chosen a take, I will go back in once more to add what you'd like. Once the final parts are comped I will also include editing/beat detection if desired.

Whether it's big, punchy in-your-face rock drums, clean and tight pop drums or vintage sounding, tape saturation indie drums I have you covered!
