Full Stem Mixing for $750

Gear: Max Mini, Focal Twin Be6’s/Yamaha HS8’s, fully treated mixing environment.

Engineering Credits: Bad Bunny, Shakira, Selena Gomez, Tainy, Feid, Young Miko, Ricky Martin, J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Shawn Mendes, Jhay Cortez, Rauw Alejandro, and many more.

Process: Before I start every mix , I like to discuss with the artist/producer their vision and intention behind the song. Next, I listening through and start making notes on things that stick out to me and planning around the artist’s vision. After getting a solid foundation of where to take the sonics, I begin mixing. After I get my first pass done, I’ll send it back to the artist and begin the revision process where we go back and forth getting closer to capturing the artist’s vision.

Details:

• Arrange your stems to how you have in the demo, synced and time locked.
• Label all your stems as follows:
“Artist_SongTitle_Vocal/InstrumentGroup_StemName.wav” for example “TheBeatles_ElenorRigby_Strings_Violin1.wav” or “DrDre_StillDre_SnoopDoggVox_LeadVox1.wav”
• Export your stems at either 44.1k or 48k sample rates, and 16bit or 24bit but depths.
• Make sure all stems are stereo tracks, NOT MONO.
• Double check your stems by dragging them into an empty session and importing them. Here you want to make sure that the stems are aligned, everything is where it’s supposed to be, and that nothing is unintentionally clipping or distorting.
