C. Michael Hinson was born June 10th 1974 in Washington D.C. The self discovery of his music talent began when he was 11. His parents bought him a keyboard for Christmas and he quickly realized that he could play songs that he heard just by listening to them. In 7th grade he learned from his general music teacher that he had a GOD-given gift called Perfect Pitch which allows him to hear and identify pitches with ease. She urged him to join band or chorus in 8th grade. He chose band and started playing trombone. A few years later he started his professional music career at the age of 16 playing keyboard for the Go-Go band, "Mission".
C. Mike received his undergrad education at Winston-Salem State University where he double majored in music education and music business. There, he became the chief music arranger and student director of the marching band. He was also in every music ensemble that had a need for trombone, including The University Jazz Ensemble, the jazz sextet called "Raminiscence", Symphonic Band, Brass Ensemble, and a few more. He also performed briefly in the Piedmont Wind Symphony under Robert Simon.
From 2000 to 2004 he was the Assistant Band Director at Carver High School. He is currently the Director of Bands at the Carter G Woodson School where he was tasked with building a band program from scratch. He created concert band, jazz band, and the marching band known as "The Approaching Storm". He regularly performs with several groups, including the gospel group "Peace of Mind", and variety band, "EnVision".
He started recording his own albums independently in 2004, and although he has now recorded 7 albums and working on his 8th, he'll admit the the first 5 albums were just practice.

He has adopted the motto:
I HAVE DONE SO MUCH, WITH SO LITTLE, FOR SO LONG, THAT NOW I CAN DO ANYTHING WITH NOTHING."
