Witchwish is the musical project of Stefano Tarroni, an Italian singer and composer active in the alternative and soundtrack scene. With a deeply evocative and personal style, Witchwish blends the poetic, nature-infused atmospheres of Hozier with the energetic pulse of Neck Deep’s pop punk, the gothic tones of HIM and Evanescence, and the introspective, cinematic spirit of Linkin Park’s What I’ve Done.
Beyond vocal-driven songs, Witchwish also composes instrumental music for videos, theatre productions, narrative podcasts, and other audiovisual projects. Even in instrumental pieces, the same emotional storytelling approach is applied—merging forest-inspired ambient textures with a touch of cinematic pop in the style of Hans Zimmer.
From alternative rock to haunting ballads, from dramatic cues to ethereal ambient landscapes, Witchwish delivers music that tells stories, creates immersion, and leaves a mark.
Active since 2016 as frontman of the metal band Gatecloser, the solo project Witchwish was born in late 2023 alongside the completion of my first book, The Fall of God, which became part of the concept behind Gatecloser’s new album.
After a long period of study and reflection—between music and novels—I felt the need to give voice to the remaining 18% of my artistic identity that never had space within my band work.
That meant picking up new instruments, exploring different sounds, and using my voice to tell stories that help me stay grounded.
I decided to dig deep into my pop/rock side, and what emerged was a blend of spicy pop, alternative melancholy, romantic nostalgia. I want to create music for my fantasy stories—Victorian vibes in the middle of a storm, tragic love atop a mountain on the edge of darkness. Music that is nostalgic, poetic like Hozier, strange like Tim Burton, and emotional like an old memory.
That’s why I chose the name Witchwish—a storyteller, a mask that helps me hold on.
In 2024, I officially founded the project, collaborating with several musicians from Forlì while taking full creative control: from visuals and aesthetics to songwriting, production, and video direction.
Everything is self-produced, a personal journey of growth and experience.
