I'm Mart Evans, a drummer originally from south east London and now based in Philadelphia. I've been behind the kit for forty years. I specialise in recording live-played MIDI drum tracks for artists, bands and producers who want the feel of a real drummer with the flexibility of MIDI.

For most of my life I've been a working musician: cruise ships, musical theatre, sessions, more live gigs than I can count, and I even survived a summer season or two. Those years taught me things that don't come from a practice room: how to read a room, adapt to different players and, above all, play for the song. In 2021 I moved into remote recording and brought all of it with me.

With the drums, my job is to listen to what the music is telling me and shape a part that supports the story without getting in the way. That approach feels at home in rock, pop-rock, indie, Americana, folk and singer-songwriter material, and carries through into hard rock, prog, and the darker end of post-punk and gothic rock.

I’ve worked with folks such as Tim Renwick, Alex Catchings, Steve Donnelly, Henry Louris, Ruslan Sirota, Celtic World Orchestra, Phil Keaggy, Iain Hornal, and Mike Waldron, amongst many others.
