My name is Luis Berrios-Nichols, I’m a recording, mixing, mastering engineer, and producer based in Virginia Beach, VA and I have participated in numerous Latin GRAMMY Award-winning and nominated projects, as well as 11 times Billboard Charting Engineer (3 Times #1). Throughout my 42-years career, I have worked in countless productions throughout P.R, the U.S, and overseas. I have also worked with a diverse group of recording artists across many genres of music and continues to work for independent artists and labels. I graduated from The University of Puerto Rico and the Conservatory of Music with a degree in Music Education and Composition, and I have spent the last 42 years honing my craft which is, music recording, mixing, and mastering. I was the first recording engineer instructor in P.R in 1988 at the School of Music in Carolina, P.R. As a trained musician (Trombone player) and a music copyist, I began mastering for my friends in 1997 after almost 17 years dedicated to music recording. What started out as a hobby and a free-lance job, grew into a full-fledged profession. I’m an Associated Member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), District of Columbia Chapter, AES Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Mentorship program. Also an active voting member of both The Recording Academy (GRAMMY) and The Latin Recording Academy (LARAS).
