I’m Kevin Weichel, professionally known as Krossfade, a music producer, recording engineer, mixing engineer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Phoenix, Arizona, with professional experience working in both Phoenix and Los Angeles.

My primary genres are rock, alternative rock, punk, pop, singer-songwriter, indie, and guitar-driven music, although I work comfortably across different styles. My production philosophy is centered on making records that feel emotionally powerful, sonically detailed, and genuinely human rather than overly processed.

I play guitar, bass, and piano, and I use that musical background extensively in production. I can contribute guitar parts, bass parts, piano/keyboard parts, arrangements, songwriting ideas, sound selection, programming, editing, vocal production, recording, mixing, and overall sonic direction.

My professional audio background includes studying at the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences (CRAS) and working professionally with experienced producers and engineers. I interned with Jim Kaufman at High Caliber Productions, was subsequently hired as an assistant, assisted Scott Litt, and worked as an assistant engineer at Stagg Street Studios in Los Angeles.

I also have experience as a recording engineer and producer working with independent artists and bands, where my role often extends beyond mixing into helping artists determine arrangement, instrumentation, tones, performances, dynamics, and the overall emotional direction of a record.

As a musician and producer, I’m particularly interested in the intersection between organic performance and modern production technology. I enjoy using virtual instruments, synthesis, sampling, sound design, programmed drums, layered guitars, bass, keyboards, and traditional recording techniques together to create productions that still feel like real records performed by real people.

I’m interested in Musio because its instrument library gives producers access to a much broader sonic palette without sacrificing the ability to make highly musical and expressive productions. I see virtual instruments as creative instruments—not simply replacements for recording live musicians.

My goal as Krossfade is to create records with strong songwriting, memorable sonic identities, emotional impact, and professional commercial translation, while maintaining the imperfections and human character that make music connect with people.
