Karolis Šarkus (22) is a Lithuanian jazz saxophonist, in the national press described as a promising young artist. Even in the young age, his talent brought him to study or/and play in some countries - USA, The Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Romania, The Czech Republic, Latvia. He participated in Umbria Jazz, Vilnius Mama Jazz, Kaunas Jazz, Granatos Live festivals. Karolis was also awarded with a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music. His teachers and jazz critics name Karolis as an ambitious and progressive player who is not afraid to explore beyond comfort. Saxophonist is a steady member of 4 bands (Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė Collective, Amstel Bigband, Brave Noises, Enea Besana band), collaborates with other people and groups, recorded a few albums. Besides that, he is a leader of his own jazz quartet, quintet and currently working on a debut album. Karolis also writes, arranges music and recently started to produce.
