Singer and songwriter Tae Henry was born Deontae Henry, the youngest of 5 siblings on June 10th, 1994 on the south side of Chicago. Growing up, Deontae naturally took to music and singing whether it was in the church choir, or in the shower. He always knew that singing was his dream and something he had a passion for. As a child he was inspired by artistry and styles of R&B and Pop legends and icons Usher, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Luther Vandross and he also admires Chris Brown and Tank. “I use to be scared to sing in public”, he once said but he eventually broke free of that fear when he joined the church choir at the age of 8. “I use to want to sing lead and I always wanted be out in the spotlight. I’ve been singing in front of people ever since”. Deontae also has a passion for writing. His poetry writing skills have developed into his skills as a songwriter. At the age of 17 he tried out for The Voice and X-Factor. When he reflects on the auditions he says,” It was an amazing experience and I knew then that I have the talent to actualize my dream and reach my goal of becoming a professional singer/songwriter”. He decided to move to Miami, FL in 2016 to network and establish his brand outside of Chicago. In 2019 Deontae released his first single “Call My Line”, and later that same year Deontae was booked to perform his first single live during Stone Wall Pride where he was cheered on by a roaring crowd. Deontae has since devoted more of himself to his talents and honing his craft. He is planning to release his first EP entitled “Tae”, which will give listeners a better and deeper feel of him as an artist, some life events that have shaped and defined his artistry, and a better understanding of him as a person. “I appreciate all the love and support I’ve received thus far. I’m excited for you all to join me on this journey. Hold on because this is only the beginning”.
