Horacio Martinez is a musician, composer, producer and arranger originally from Jujuy, Argentina. He received a Music Degree in Guitar Performance at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Mendoza, Argentina.
During the 90s he toured the country with several choirs, performing in some of the most prestigious theaters and auditoriums such as Teatro Colón, Teatro Cervantes, Teatro San Martín, among others.
In the year 2000 he toured Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina with EMA, a UNESCO project . He recorded three albums with EMA as a singer, composer and arranger.
In 2004, he co-founded the group Traful and recorded the album “Confluencia de Ríos”. The group toured the country, participated in a special performance for Gustavo Santaolalla and Mercedes Sosa, and won the Pre-Cosquin festival in Mendoza 2010.
From 2009-2013, he was a member of the award-winning group Markama. He recorded a video clip with Markama called “Ama al mundo” (Nominated in 2011 for the Carlos Gardel Award in Argentina). During his time with Markama, Horacio toured the country performing in festivals of the magnitude of Festival Cosquin and Festival Jesus Maria, among others.
In 2011 and 2012, Horacio performed in Festival Nacional de la Vendimia, a festival featuring 800 artists on stage. Horacio has also played with some of the most prestigious Symphonic Orchestras in Argentina, including the Markama Sinfónico project. In 2012, he began recording his first solo album called “Machao”. The album features 15 top musicians from Mendoza and two videoclips.
In addition to his work as an instrumentalist, Horacio has produced music for films, contemporary dance groups and several artists. He has also worked as a music teacher in several schools and cultural centers.
In 2013, he moved to New York where he now plays in the music ministry of Sion-St. Peter’s Church. Horacio performs with different groups in the city and recording his second Album De Jujuy a Brooklyn and the multi Grammy winner Residente's Album (2017).
