BIO / GARY MITCHEL SMITH

At a very early age, Gary knew he was destined to become a guitarist. He began private guitar lessons at age seven. By the age of thirteen, he began performing professionally with various groups in his hometown, Tulsa, Oklahoma. By the age of sixteen, he and his group were signed to Atlantic Records which resulted in a number 19 slot in Billboard magazine. When Gary reached his early twenties, he was touring the U.S., Canada and overseas with many different groups.
After a four month tour in the orient, Gary was called to Branson, Missouri to do recording work. Gary went to Branson and began working in the studio and playing the theaters and shows. Gary spent 18 years in Branson and over his four decade career has performed and/or recorded with such greats as Ray Stevens, Lee Greenwood, Glen Campbell, Bobby Vinton, Roy Clark, Pat Boone, Louise Mandrell, Robert Guillaume, Leon Russell, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Brewer & Shipley, The Dillards, Jim Stafford and several more. Gary also has had the honor to endorse some great musical products such as Taylor guitars, Mesa Boogie amplifiers, Fishman Transducers and S.I.T. Strings. In addition to being a professional guitarist, Gary is also an audio engineer, record producer and studio owner. Gary resides in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
