I’m Friedrich Störmer (Friedrich Stoermer), a recording, mixing and mastering engineer based in Weimar, Germany. I specialize in jazz, improvised music and acoustic album production, and offer remote mixing and mastering for artists and labels internationally.
My credits span American and European jazz. I mixed and mastered The 7th Dinner Live by Joe Hertenstein and Ray Anderson, featuring Michael Moore and Michael Formanek. Released by Fundacja Słuchaj!, the album was longlisted for the German Record Critics’ Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik) in 2026. I mixed Alexander Rueß’s Debut, featuring Nils Landgren and released on Double Moon Records. I recorded and mixed Achim Kaufmann and Kalle Kalima’s Ilmonique, released on TYXart.
My wider credits include projects with Christian Lillinger and Nils Wogram, as well as string recording for “MEM” on Martin Kohlstedt’s Kluft. Alongside my independent work, I’m a Tonmeister for jazz and pop at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar.
Whether it’s a studio album or a live recording, I’m drawn to records with a distinct ensemble sound. My work is to give that sound the depth, clarity and dynamic range it deserves.
