Frederick Davis a.k.a. the “Renaissance Man of Soul & Jazz Music” and the Singer behind the 1984 R&B classic, “Gentle (Calling Your Name)”, looks to start his 2020 with something real and heartwarming. Teaming up with IZIPHO Soul Records, he looks to release, “Real Love”.
Produced by Frederick and longtime collaborators Pete Tokar, Ray Ruffin, and Allan Licht, Frederick brings his old school soulful and jazzy vibes to the modern day music scene to light fires in hearts of lovers everywhere. With his silky delivery and smooth lyrics, Frederick looks to show the new generation what real love is all about as he shows appreciation to the love in his life throughout the song. In a time where many lost the meaning of real love, Frederick seeks to bring that feeling back and inspire many hopefuls who still believe in true love.
The Cleveland, Ohio native first started his career in the 1970s as a member of the local band, Soul Reflections. He soon departed from the band to join the Navy, and after ending Military Duty, he got his music career back on track as a Songwriter at the Le Ray Ruffin owned Time Traxx Records. His big break came in 1984 after a demo of “Gentle (Calling Your Name)” got in the hands of local DJ Jeffery Charles and was premiered on the Quiet Storm radio program, “For Lovers Only”. The song went on to be a popular one, and found Frederick winning awards, and enjoying chart success. The single was recognized in 1999 by Vibe Magazine as one of the best-loved songs of all time.
