I have a degree in music education from East Carolina University where I studied percussion with Mark Ford (currently Univ of North Texas) and Harold Jones. While at ECU, my studies and performance experience in all of the major ensembles gave me a deep and well-crafted maturity behind the drums. My main objective every time I play, is to make sure the best version of the song is presented. I like to think that my playing is based on pocket and groove, with never one note too many or too little. I don't just play drums, I play songs.
My performance experience after college has placed me behind the kit for many different genres, where I am fluent and confident in everything from Rock to Jazz to Metal. I am most comfortable in a 1990’s to current country music (in the style of Lonnie Wilson and Chris McHugh) Most recently I’ve studied with Jim Riley (Rascal Flatts) with an emphasis on playing and delivering the highest quality performance tracks that best serve the song, the artist and the producers vision.
