"God writes with broken pencils!" - Mother Teresa

I grew up in a house where perfection was preached non-stop, but the type of perfection in our home was a perfection of the soul. As a kid it was extremely difficult to reach any level of perfection, the abuse was very brutal, and the majority of it was psychological not physical. I left home very confused, as to how I was to approach life. I ultimately had to go through many trials to discover what I believed to be true. I had to do this, not because it was what my father believed, but because it is what I truly believe. The quote above is a paraphrase of a much longer quote by Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, "I am a little pencil in God's hands. He does the thinking, He does the writing. He does everything and sometimes it is really hard because it is a broken pencil and He has to sharpen it a little more." I finally figured out that we are all flawed, broken, bent, sinful, but that it's okay to trust that God has a plan for our lives. It's okay to trust that He will create awe inspiring masterful work, with His broken pencils, as long as I allow Him to work through me.

My desired audience, is everyone who feels as if there is no hope, everyone who feels as if life is as good as it'll ever be and yet they've settle for the mediocre, and everyone who is at the tipping point of giving up because they feel broken and useless. I want them to know they are not useless, that the life they are living has purpose and meaning, and that today is only the beginning of the masterwork God will write with the rest of their lives. I want my audience to live with abundant hope.
