Vocalist, oud player, and composer Shelley Thomas blends Balkan, Arabic, Hindustani, Classical, Pop-Soul, and African music styles in her compositions, marking the emergence of a new genre: World Chamber Pop. With cinematic arrangements and inspired emotive power, she interlaces diverse threads of culture through a rhythmic, poignant examination into the human condition.

Recognized for her extensive multicultural repertoire and attention to musical detail, ornamentation, and pitch precision, her depth of study and sensitivity have allowed her a rare breadth of styles. She was featured on Yo-Yo Ma and the Silkroad Ensemble’s GRAMMY-Winning album, Sing Me Home, with vocal trio Black Sea Hotel and has worked with world-class artists including The Knights, Kronos Quartet, Simon Shaheen, Hassan Hakmoun, Bassam Saba & the New York Arabic Orchestra, AlSarah & the Nubatones, Mayssa Karaa, and Innov Gnawa.

She has performed in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Cuba, Lebanon, and UAE at venues and festivals such as Moscow Conservatory, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, MIT, Pioneer Works, Joes Pub, Le Poisson Rouge, National Sawdust, Panorama Fest, Ragas Live Fest, Ecstatic Dance, The Sonic Jungle, CoSM, Vancouver Island Music Fest, and Abu Dhabi Fest at Emirates Palace.

Current projects include the critically-acclaimed release of her second single and video, “Mirror” with Symphonic Distribution; Mixing, Mastering & Production classes with 343 Labs and Music Production for Women; and completion of compositions for her upcoming full album, written for 10-piece microtonal orchestral ensemble.
