Marco Salazar is an electric and double bassist in the Boston MA metro area and the Hudson Valley Region in NY whose chameleon-like style morphs to fit whatever he is asked to play both as a sideman and as an artist. He performs R&B/Neo Soul with both fretted and fretless bass, cool jazz, swing, bebop, latin styles, funk, hip-hop, fusion and acid jazz with both precision and creativity in his solos, acoustic pop, and all forms of rock music. Marco began his study of music at the age of 9 with percussion and drums, switching to bass at age 12.
He studied jazz and contemporary music under the tutelage of Matthew Field and David Miele at New York School of Music in Walden, NY, working his way up the ranks at the school until he was in both the All-Star Pop and Rock Band and the High School Jazz All-Star Band, playing at charity benefits and festivals. He later studied AP music and contemporary harmony to enhance his knowledge of theory, composition, and arranging, expanding his knowledge to numerous popular genres and eventually studying Jazz with famed composer and Jazz guitarist James Emery, and well-known pianist and Jazz composer Chris Parker, while working on his Dual Associates in music and history at SUNY Orange in Middletown NY. He also studied improvisation with Hudson Valley locals Larry Moses, Dennis Yerry, and well-known local jazzmen Dan and Robert Shaut while playing in the Hudson Valley Youth Jazz Orchestra. He has also studied electric and double bass with NYC freelance and pit musician John Arbo from Warwick, NY.

A public performer since the age of 12, Marco has performed at various well known venues in New York and New England including the Falcon, the Chance Theater, Brighton Music Hall, The Middle East Cambridge, Wally’s Jazz Club, BSP Kingston, Pearl Moon Woodstock, The Bowerly Electric NYC, and for many local business events, community events, and festivals.
