He has been making records for more than 15 years, working across a wide variety of genres and at all levels of the industry, from super-indie DIY projects to chart-topping major-label albums. He has worked on multiple projects that have been nominated for or won Grammy and Latin Grammy awards. Originally from Boston, MA, Nick made the transition from playing in bands to recording them while attending the University of California at Santa Cruz, where he founded his first independent record label and produced the first few albums of his career. After college, he relocated to L.A. and began working for the Paramount Recording Group, working as a staff engineer at their multiple studio locations for nearly a decade. In 2013, Nick took a position as an engineer to producer/mixer Rich Costey, with whom he worked on numerous high-profile records. In 2018, Nick struck out on his own to produce and record independently, as well as mixing and mastering from his private studio in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles.
