Mati came to New York City with her mother at the age of 7 from Dhaka, Bangladesh. She quickly turned to television, specifically music to assimilate into American culture. Learning each and every word of Hilary Duff's songs by heart, Mati found that her songs were meant to be quite inspirational. They settled down in the Bronx for Mati to attend LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts as a vocal major. Mati learned classical opera at her school meanwhile learning Bengali folk songs at home. She consistently performed for Bangladeshi cultural events in Queens for Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA) and appearing on international TV channels NTV and TBN. Mati graduated from City College of New York in June 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Earth and Atmospheric Science. Today, she is pursuing her dream of becoming the first Bangladeshi singer to hit the American charts
