Over the past 20 years, Jamie Papish has made a name for himself in the Los Angeles World Music Scene as a passionate percussionist of ethnic hand drum styles of the Middle East, Iran, North Africa, Eastern Europe & the Balkans. In addition, he teaches and performs weekly at venues around Los Angeles playing Light Rock, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Middle Eastern & Latin grooves. He loves using his hybrid drumkit using the Cajon as kick and snare along with ethnic hand drums. He is a full time musician and maintains an active performance and recording schedule as an original member of the critically acclaimed Yuval Ron Ensemble, The Chloe Pourmorady Ensemble, Asher Shasho Levy and Aram Soba, Mahadev, Donna DeLory (Backup singer for Madonna) and the Aegea Ensemble as well as numerous other groups. Jamie’s percussion is on well over 100 tracks of released music including Floodplain by The Kronos Quartet. He loves recording and building percussion parts at his home studio.
