E.G. Edwards grew up on the farm and ranch lands of central Alberta, first picking up the guitar at the age of six. His formative years consisted of farm work, dirt bikes, community theatre, playing in bands, and spending most of his time practicing and writing. After graduation, music went on the backburner to make way for a family, helping on the farm and employment in the oil and gas industry. In his mid-20’s he started writing songs again, and eventually realized that playing guitar, writing and singing his own music was what he really wanted to do with his life. Part time music and a full-time career started to trade places, and E.G. Edwards began to form his unique voice and style. Drawing on influences across a multitude of styles and genres, he crafts thoughtful songs about life and love, happiness and heartbreak, strength and weakness, the prairies and its people, and the journey to find a better self. Like his songs, E.G.’s unique playing style is steeped in the blues, drawing on rock, funk, country, jazz and alternative music influences to create searing and compelling riffs and solos. He also writes, performs and records from his home studio for other musicians who need a hand. E.G. is currently performing throughout central Alberta as a solo artist and with his band, The Prairie Sons.
