Daniel Chouinard, based in Boston, is the antithesis of the stereotypical string musician. He is an accomplished improviser in several styles, learns by ear, and blends in with any type of ensemble—all while maintaining strong technical and sight-reading abilities.

He began his Berklee education in 2020, and quickly became one of the most sought-after cellists at the school, collaborating with dozens of artists on stage and in the studio, all while teaching cello lessons with the non-profit organization City Strings United. He also began releasing music under his artist name “Danny Sea”. He graduated in 2024 with degrees in Cello Performance and Contemporary Writing & Production, studying with legends like Jason Anick, Sara Caswell, and Eugene Friesen.

Daniel is a longtime session musician with Musiversal, where he provides interactive recording sessions to clients around the world. He arranged the string quartet parts and performed as part of the ensemble for Jason Ji’s Finger Pickin’ Good show at Carnegie Hall, and recently opened for Sheryl Crow with Vincent Lima. His cello playing can be heard on “Naked” from Damiano David’s debut solo album, as well as on The Daily podcast by The New York Times. When he’s not in the studio or on stage, Daniel plays cello and bass at weddings, events, and theaters around New England. Outside of music, he’s an avid hiker and home cook.
