The Bitter End came to life in March of 2020. It emerged at the very precipice of the COVID pandemic, a time when the world was bracing for the unknown. This song is an anthem born from those early days of isolation, speaking to the will and determination to hold onto hope even when facing the toughest circumstances.
The recording process was a direct reflection of that unprecedented period. With COVID restrictions in full effect, everything had to be done remotely. I tracked all of my parts from the confines of my small Seattle apartment while my musical collaborator Andrew Lapinid tracked drums and mixed the song at his home studio on the other side of town, truly making it a project forged in solitude but bonded by connection.
The Bitter End isn't just a song to me. It's a testament to holding onto an enduring and resilient spirit when everything feels uncertain.

Lyrics:
Verse 1:
I am heavy
I am heavy
So won’t you please scoop me up off the floor
I am empty
I am empty
And I don’t think that I can go on like this anymore
Verse 2:
I am dizzy
I am dizzy
‘Cause every time I try to stand
All I do is fall
I am weary
I am weary
I can’t keep my head up
Like I have no strength at all
Chorus:
But don’t you be mistaken
I’m not throwing in the towel
Still got some fight left in me
I’m not ready to take a bow
So go and tell the devil
And all his crooked friends
That I’ll be right here swinging hard
Until the bitter end
Verse 3:
I am drowning
I am drowning
Drowning in the sorrow that keeps me in my bed
I am lonely
I am lonely
Lonely from this darkness
That’s covering my head
Verse 4:
Come and get me
Come and get me
All my money’s spent
And I’ve got nowhere to go
I am ready
I am ready
Ready to believe my troubles
Will trouble me no more
Bridge:
Oh, in case you haven’t heard
I will have the final word
I may be down
But if you think I’m out, think again
I will be here
Until the bitter end
