Molly Marie

...because I love the sound of the name "Molly Marie"

Molly Marie
by John M Taylor

She's the first born
of a first-born child
her momma named her
Molly Marie
her Daddy gave his blessing
just before I asked her,
"Molly, will you marry me?"

I told her
"I'll build a home on my own
for you Molly Marie
We'll share our lives
for all of our life,
Molly Marie"

She gave me sons
They help out in the gardens
and my daughters look like
Molly Marie
After the harvest at the festivals
I get to dance with my
Molly Marie

I told her
"I'll build a home on my own
for you Molly Marie
We'll share our lives
for all of our life.
Come dance with me"

(Instrumental break)

We were young and
naive enough
to fight the world on our own
when it backed us
in the corner
we told each other
"you're not alone"

We're older now with our first grandchild
named after Molly Marie
And in the evenings
when we're all alone
I still dance with my
Molly Marie

I told her
"I'll build a home on my own
for you Molly Marie
We'll share our lives
for all of our life,
Molly Marie

For all my life
I love you,
Molly Marie
