leaving Babylon
Leaving Babylon
by John M Taylor
lay out my belongings
I can choose the ones I’ll need
Lord, for this journey I don’t need too much
shoes for my feet
a coat for rain or cold
somewhere to go you lead and I will trust
every tree planted
has grown and borne its fruit
what’s done is done and now the harvest comes
stretching out my arms
may your Will be done at last
I only pray, Lord, you remember me.
praise be your love
I have never walked alone
so long ago you took me by the hand
with every step your grace sustained my resolve
to say my last goodbye to Babylon
so many were the things of my concern
how few now as I’m leaving Babylon
(Instrumental break)
praise be your love
I have never walked alone
so long ago you took me by the hand
with every step your grace sustained my resolve
to say my last goodbye to Babylon
so many were the things of my concern
how few now as I’m leaving Babylon
