freedom fighter
Australian lyricist, Julie Tawse, writes of a young man, radicalized, who turned to violence in his search for meaning. We collaborated on the song in 2005 during the "50 Songs in 90 Days" challenge. I wrote the music and turned to the following airgigs artists to produce this demo:
vocals (lead and harmonies): Believer Baeha
guitars (electric and acoustic): Jesse Rivest
keyboards (piano and Hammond organ)
bass and percussion: Marco Cremaschini
mix/mastering: Jesse Rivest

he flew in to study here
his parent's said it would advance his career
but he knew it mattered how they appeared
if he became a lawyer or an engineer
he studied hard - was nobody's fool
seemed to get along - played by the rule
committed himself to make study his tool
the day he signed into medical school
he made a vow for the Common Good
he would save humanity the best he could
those who knew him said he was the very best of men
a true freedom fighter to the bitter end.
one day he met a man who said "study my 'ism'"
gave him propaganda to read on the tram
the group had answers, yes, they had a plan
be a martyr for freedom - lesser men be damned
so he made a vow for the Common Good
he would save humanity the best he could
he imbued poison words - believed the power of the pen
a true freedom fighter to the bitter end
(instrumental break)
yes, he made a vow for the Common Good
he would save humanity the best he could
those who knew him said he was the very best of men
a true freedom fighter to the bitter end.
