Somnus
Somnus is an abstract journey between the dreams and reality of a man grappling with life—and his isolation within it. Described as an “odyssey of isolation,” the film explores the psychological weight of disconnection, identity, and the quiet unraveling of self in the face of corporate promises and existential doubt.
The narrative is punctuated by recurring phrases like “Your future begins here” and “You belong here”—hollow corporate mantras that grow more haunting as the film progresses. These motifs serve as a surreal backdrop to the protagonist’s descent, blurring the lines between indoctrination and inner dialogue.
The soundtrack, composed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, was born out of the same stillness and confinement reflected in the film. Written in isolation, the music became an emotional compass—minimal, haunting, and textural—designed to be experienced in tandem with the visuals. Together, the sound and image form a single, immersive language that speaks to the unsettling quiet of modern life and the dissonance between what we’re told and what we feel.
