Whistlers Father

Whistlers Father

One day while taking a walk in the park with my friend, I was telling her that I was trying to come up with an idea for a song which I'd call Whistler's Father. I said, no one ever hears about Whistler's Father, all the attention is given to his mother. She didn't understand what I was talking about, and I asked her, "You know the famous painting Whistler's mother right?" She didn't. I thought it is funny, the things we take for granted that the painting would be famous throughout the world.

Anyway, I took poetic license with the song. I did a little research on the painter, James Whistler. I learned that his father actually died before his son actually became famous. My ex-brother-in-law James Cammack a musician who used to tour with Amad Jamal, was nice enough to provide bass for this song.

First time I ever used a harp on a song.
I played acoustic rhythm guitar on this
