My Little Polypeptide

My Little Polypeptide

I wrote this song around 2018 after reading some scientific article about polypeptides. I don't know the first thing about science, but the name polypeptide intrigued me, and I wanted to do something with it. I came up with the title of My Little Polypeptide. I recorded the drums and a backing vocal with another studio but to be honest, that other studio was too expensive for me to continue working with, so I held on to those stems.

About a year or so later, my girlfriend listened to a bunch of my old cassettes I had recorded back in the early 1980's with an old high school friend named George. We began recording in our teens and jokingly referred to ourselves as The Turkeys. My girlfriend suggested, "Why don't you look him up, I bet he would love to record professionally" I hadn't seen him for close to 20 years but reached out and thus began some professional recordings using The Turkeys as our name. We certainly had enough material, both of us writing songs over a 40-year period.

I pulled out Polypeptide and had George add some vocals to it and hired a piano and bass player to finish it off. The piano player knocked my socks off. This went on our Potential album
