Grovers Mill

By BILL BOYAN

Grovers Mill

For those history buffs, they will recognize Grover's Mill was the place where Martians had landed in Orson Wells radio broadcast War of the Worlds in 1938.

This was inspired by talking to my Aunt Helen who was born in 1933. I had asked her if she remembered any of this. She said she was just a little girl, but she did remember everybody gathering on the porch and some of my uncles talked of driving to Grover's Mill, which would have been about a 90-minute drive.

This appeared also on my 2020 album Studio Apartment and was another track I decided to re-record with Air Gigs

So, I imagined myself as a young boy arming myself with rocks and sticks to fend off the Martians circa 1938.
