Spring Chicken
The song is a reflection of recollections of a father watching his children growing up. I wrote it in 2022. I played rhythm guitar on it and dug out my keyboard and also played some organ as well.
My oldest daughter once told me I was an awesome dad, and it meant a lot to me. She said she remembered how I would be preparing dinner for them and at the same time would have them around the table and be giving them spelling bees. We lived next to a farm and another daughter would see the cows from the window and excitedly run outside so she could run to the fence and pull-out grass to feed them.
I used to make 'baby books" on all my kids starting from when they were born to their teens and would give them the books when they turned 18.
So, the lyrics make references to all of this.
