WEE GOOSE - Belfast Mentality

Inspiration This track is a sonic collision of two worlds: the unique, gritty attitude of Belfast and the undeniable groove of classic Funk. "Belfast Mentality" is about capturing the spirit and humor of the city, but we wanted to deliver it in a way that makes you move. The "Funk Mix" takes the original concept and injects it with a high-energy, danceable pulse that doesn’t take itself too seriously but takes the music very seriously.

Musicians Involved

Artist/Vocals: Wee Goose brings the personality and the voice that drives the track.

Arrangement & Guitars: I handled the entire musical arrangement and all guitar duties. My role was to build the sonic infrastructure around the vocal, ensuring every section hit with maximum impact.

Lyrics Lyrically, the song is a slice of life—observational, sharp, and distinctly local. It touches on the quirks of the "Belfast Mentality," mixing local slang and humor with a universal desire to just get on with it and have a good time. It’s storytelling with a strut.

Creative Process The production philosophy for this mix was simple: make it funky, make it tight.

The Arrangement: Since I handled the arrangement, I focused on creating "space." Funk is as much about the notes you don't play as the ones you do. I structured the breaks and drops to let the vocal breathe while keeping the rhythm section driving forward.

The Guitars: This was the centerpiece of the instrumental. I layered clean, syncopated funk strumming with grittier lead lines to give it some edge. We avoided over-processing the guitars, relying instead on precise playing and locking into the groove to get that authentic "in the pocket" feel.
