For the last three years, I was completely obsessed with technique. I focused so heavily on exercises that I barely touched theory or composition. And, as it usually happens, too much drilling eventually burned me out. I found myself playing only twice a week—just for fun—and that’s when the magic started happening again.
One afternoon I was walking in the forest. Later, after a run, I got home in the evening and started exploring a Neural DSP plugin. I dialed in a new tone, and it instantly inspired the intro of this song. I left it as it was that night. But the next evening, I moved my setup near the window in my bedroom—it felt cozy, and I wanted to enjoy the last summer nights—and the rest of the song just poured out of me. I finally understood what Michael Jackson meant about letting a song write itself and simply following where it wants to go.
Now I’m excited to finish all the songs I’ve started over the past few years. This one is currently in a raw format on YouTube, and I’m working on producing it properly for release on Spotify.
Although the video is filmed during the day, I actually wrote the song at night, in mid-September. I love going out at night, especially when I’m surrounded by nature. The night sky, the stars, and a forest just a few meters away create this mix of excitement and fear.
For me, the whole vibe of the song is about overcoming struggles of all kinds and coming out stronger.
