Hey there! I'm Richie Dittrich, a professional session drummer from Galway, Ireland. My passion for recording drums runs deep—I still get such a huge buzz from pointing a mic at a drum and hearing it come out from the speakers. It's in those moments that I'm reminded of the endless possibilities—the subtle nuances that come with tweaking the mic's position, playing with its proximity to the drum's rim or center, adjusting its height—all in pursuit of that elusive 'perfect sound.'

I've recorded sessions for clients across Europe, the United States & South America but one of the coolest projects I've been involved in was when Dua Lipa released her clothing line with Versace. I played drums on the soundtrack that was played during the fashion show, which took place at the Cannes Film Festival. Additionally, I've worked with London producer Daniel L Harle, who asked me to play drums on the Versace fashion show soundtrack.

In March 2023, I recorded an album in Italy where I experienced one of those magical moments. As we approached the outro section of a track, I let myself completely loose, lost in the rhythm and energy of the music. I hit the final note, and I could hear the piano player shouting "THAT'S THE TAKE!" It was a moment of pure joy and validation, reminding me why I do what I do.

My studio setup features vintage Hayman Vibrasonic drums, alongside a variety of snare drums like Ludwig Supraphonic and Acrolite, and Yamaha Anton Fig signature. I use trusted microphones from Audio Technica, Sennheiser, and Shure for detailed performance capture. The analog warmth of the Midas Venice 320 desk runs into two Behringer ada8200 interfaces, which are connected to an RME digiface via ADAT.From there, it's straight into the DAW via USB, ensuring those analog vibes translate beautifully into digital recordings.
