Fear Not Nocturne 1 in F# Minor

“Fear Not” was written during a season of my life when I was struggling deeply with depression and fear connected to experiences and trauma from my childhood. There were times when those memories and emotions felt overwhelming, and music became one of the ways I could process what I was carrying.

This piece grew out of that struggle—the tension between fear and faith, darkness and hope, and the choice to keep moving forward even when you cannot yet see how everything will turn out.

Musically, I wanted “Fear Not” to feel honest and emotional rather than simply triumphant. The piano and orchestral elements reflect both the heaviness of those experiences and the hope that slowly begins to break through them. The piece moves through vulnerability, tension, and reflection while ultimately pointing toward peace and courage.

The title comes from a message that has become deeply important to me throughout my faith: fear does not have to have the final word. “Fear Not” represents a very personal chapter of my life, but I hope it can also speak to anyone who has wrestled with fear, depression, painful memories, or circumstances that feel bigger than they are.

For me, this piece is a reminder that even in some of our darkest seasons, there can still be hope, healing, and something beautiful created from what we have walked through.
