Human

“Human” was written after a sudden loss in our church community. A woman we knew unexpectedly lost her husband, leaving her and their two children in shock and grief. Watching a family have their world change so quickly made me think deeply about how fragile life is, how much we all carry, and how easily we can forget the humanity of the people around us.

The song became a reflection on grief, compassion, connection, and the shared human experience. I dedicated “Human” to that family, but the message grew beyond one moment of loss. It is ultimately about recognizing that beneath our differences, we are all fragile people walking through joy, pain, fear, love, and uncertainty—and that we need one another.

Musically, I wanted the production to feel intimate but cinematic. The arrangement centers around soft piano and emotional orchestral strings, gradually building in depth while still leaving room for the message to breathe. The goal was not to overwhelm the listener, but to create something reflective, sincere, and hopeful that pointed to hope in the Lord.

I wrote and developed “Human” as both a personal response to loss and a reminder to approach people with greater compassion, grace, and understanding.
