Berceuse
Berceuse is a French translation of a lullaby written by Kenneth Eward and recorded in 2026 by Anna Burton. The lyrics reflect the unconditional love of a mother for her newborn infant. With thanks to Manu, Clarisse and Gladys for their help with translation and for lending an ear. Merci infiniment !

Laisse-toi doucement
Endors-toi doucement
Repose-toi doucement
English-language original version:
Go to sleep now
Lay down your head
Be at peace now
Wrapped snugly in your bed
Until morning comes, I’ll watch over you
Sleep gently, do
Go to sleep now
Repose ‘til daybreak
All is still now
Sweet dreams until you wake
While the sandman tarries, I’ll watch over you
Rest gently, do
Newborn in a big world full of promise
So much to see and do
To live up to
Always know that, for all time, dear heart
I’ll help you carry through
Carry through
Go to sleep now
Lay down your head
Be at peace now
Wrapped snugly in your bed
And when morning follows, I’ll still be here with you
Sleep gently, do
Sleep gently, do
