Long Road Ahead
“Long Road Ahead” started as an experiment in combining two styles that normally live in very different spaces: Drum & Bass and Reggaeton. I wanted the track to have the speed, movement, and energy of DnB while still carrying the rhythmic groove and bounce of Reggaeton.
A major part of the creative process was working with stereo movement. Certain elements travel from left to right across the mix, creating a more immersive and almost surround-like feeling when listening with headphones. I wanted the production to feel like it was physically moving around the listener rather than sitting completely still in the center.
The song itself reflects the feeling of continuing forward even when there is still a long way to go. That idea also influenced the arrangement: the track keeps moving and evolving instead of staying in one place.
I wrote and developed the song, arrangement, and production myself as SøraxProd. At the time I did not have a human vocalist available, so an AI-generated voice was used for the vocal performance. The AI was used only as the singer; the songwriting, creative direction, arrangement, and production were my own work.
“Long Road Ahead” represents the more experimental side of SøraxProd. I enjoy crossing genre boundaries rather than forcing every song into the same style, and this track became one of my clearest examples of that approach: Drum & Bass energy meeting Reggaeton rhythm, with spatial production designed especially for headphone listening.
