Blending Sceneries

Blending Sceneries is my latest album as a singer, cellist, lyricist, composer and producer. The album grew from my desire to explore the dialogue between voice and cello and to create music where jazz improvisation meets Nordic atmosphere, lyrical melodies and spacious soundscapes.

The music is inspired by landscapes, movement and changing emotional states. Rather than following one fixed genre, the album moves between jazz, contemporary, ambient and neoclassical elements. The title Blending Sceneries refers to the way different musical and emotional landscapes can flow into one another.

The album features pianist Antti Utriainen, guitarist Johannes Granroth and drummer Markus Ketola, alongside my voice and cello. The interplay between the musicians is an important part of the album: the arrangements leave room for improvisation, interaction and spontaneous musical ideas.

My creative process often begins with a melody, a harmonic idea, a text or a particular atmosphere. I then explore how voice and cello can complement each other, sometimes using improvisation to discover new melodic and rhythmic directions. I’m interested in keeping the sound organic and expressive while allowing space for unexpected moments.

The album also reflects my background in jazz and contemporary music and my connection to the Nordic landscape. My cello is not only a traditional accompanying instrument here, but also a source of textures, layers and melodic voices that interact with the singing.

Blending Sceneries is an example of the kind of work I love to create: expressive, atmospheric and personal music where voice, cello and improvisation become part of the same sound world.
