Brando Lupi & Worg - Blind Spot Ep
EP MIXING & MASTERING
Complete mixing and mastering of a multitrack EP for an established record label, focused on sonic coherence while preserving each track’s character, dynamics and energy.
MIXING
The process began with session organisation, gain staging and initial balance, establishing a clear hierarchy between kick, bass, drums, synths, textures and effects. Volume, panning and spatial positioning created separation and a stable stereo image.
Corrective EQ removed unnecessary low-end information, resonances and build-ups while shaping the tonal identity of each element. Particular attention was given to masking between kick, bass and low-mid content, creating space and definition.
Compression and dynamic control were applied to stabilise dynamics, shape transients, increase punch and control density. Bus processing was used where necessary to make groups interact coherently while preserving movement.
A central focus was spectral and energetic balance: controlling low-end accumulation, defining the midrange and adding high-frequency detail without harshness. Reverbs, delays and modulation effects created depth without compromising clarity. Automation was used to manage transitions and arrangement density.
The mix was evaluated through reference listening and multi-system translation checks, ensuring headroom and consistent tonal and dynamic response.
MASTERING
Mastering began with analysis of each mix and EP sequence. Corrective EQ and spectral refinement addressed residual tonal imbalances, resonances and frequency accumulation.
Dynamic processing and compression improved cohesion, density and stability while preserving transients and musical dynamics. Tracks were compared to establish consistent perceived energy, tonal balance and low-end weight across the release.
Stereo imaging was refined by controlling centre and low-frequency information while widening selected mid/high-frequency content where appropriate. Phase correlation and mono compatibility were monitored.
Controlled clipping and transient shaping managed peaks and density before final limiting, reducing limiter activity. Final limiting established the required peak level and perceived loudness while maintaining punch, groove, depth and transient definition.
Final quality control covered tonal balance, dynamics, distortion, phase, stereo compatibility, translation and inter-track consistency.
