Speakeasy
“Speakeasy” is an original release by DEVv. that blends soulful musicianship, groove, and modern production with influences from R&B, neo-soul, funk, and blues. The record reflects my approach as both an artist and bassist—creating music that feels intentional, expressive, and rooted in the pocket.
The creative process began with establishing the feel and musical atmosphere of the song, allowing the groove to guide the arrangement rather than overcrowding it. As the record developed, each musical element was chosen to complement the overall mood and leave space for the song to breathe.
As DEVv., my goal with “Speakeasy” was to create something that represents both sides of my musicianship: the bassist who understands how to support a record and the artist who wants to create a distinct musical experience. The result is a record built around feel, musical conversation, and the connection between rhythm, melody, and emotion.
